ACT Handball is holding more open days for beginners to come out and try handball. This is a good opportunity to meet other players in Canberra and join the social competitions starting in the second week of August.

Social competitions to restart at Woden

The Social handball competitions, for men and women, will start again on the 19th of March at the Woden Basketball Centre in Philip.

The competitions will be held on Friday nights starting from 18:00.

Details of the fixtures will be available once the team lists are finalised.

Play Handball - New social competitions in Canberra

Starting on Sunday, 27 September, at the Canberra University Gymnasium, Handball ACT will be hosting more social competitions for beginners and experienced players.

Team registrations due this week

Team registrations are due on Sunday, 26 April. To submit your team, download the form below and email to ACT Handball.

All players must be registered before they can play.

Social competitions fees and registration

Although the trial events for the Social competition are free, you must still register before you can play. If you then decide to take part in the competition, below fees will apply:

  • Individual player registration: $60 (valid Australia wide and expires 31 March 2010)
  • Team fees: $50 per team, per game (11 or 12 games in total for the season) or $500 upfront per team for the entire season

Please register online now, or print the below document and bring it to the trial events on 19 or 26 April.

"Have-a-go" day for social competitions

Two days have been set aside for new members to try handball before the social competitions get on the way.

To get involved, come to University of Canberra gymnasium at 1pm on Sunday the 19th and Sunday 26th of April.

Participants will be given friendly instruction on how to play the game, and a series of small matches will be organised.

Absolutely no experience is necessary

Although the 2 trial events are completely free, we encourage you to register first. If you decide to take part in the competition, starting on 3 May, an individual annual registration fee of $60 applies as well as team fees for the use of the court.

ACT Competitions to start in April

Handball ACT will restart the Men's and Women's competition at Canberra University, on Sunday, 19 April.

The competition will be held every Sunday after that, starting at 13:00.  Details of the fixtures will be available once the team lists are finalised.

Thunder and One Way win ACT competitions

Thunder defeated Rooks, by one goal, on the weekend to take out the ACT men’s handball final, on Saturday, in a match that went goal-for-goal all the way.  The 26:27 loss was the first defeat for Rooks in the competition. Read more »
