Canberra set for the League finals

Canberra HC ended the premiership with another win over Hills Heat 26:24 (15:10 at the break), yesterday in Sydney.  Canberra will now need to wait till the end of the quarterfinals, next weekend, to find out their semi-final opponents.

This game was trivial only for Canberra as it would not have had an impact on the final standings.  Canberra took the opportunity to trial new-comer Lazar Spirovski, who recently moved to Australia from his native Macedonia. Lazar settled into the match quickly, top scoring for the team with 8 goals. The 26 year-old back will not be able to take part in the finals though, as he doesn't meet the minimum of 3 league games required to qualify.

The NSW League will also decide this week about the round 2 match between Canberra and Harbourside which hasn't been played. The match, that was scheduled for 22 May, was postponed after both teams were unavailable to play. The teams could not manage to arrange another time and will now be penalised. The most likely out-come will be a 0:0 score line with no points awarded to the teams.

Canberra will now rest for a week before the deciding semi-final clash on 11 September, in Sydney.
