NSW take a point from Queensland

NSW's Laura Ridley breaks through for a shot at the Queensland goal

The NSW u16 girls scored two goals, late in the game, to take a point from Queensland, during their 13 – 13 draw at the Australian Institute of Sport, in Canberra, today.

Queensland was down 7 goals to 6 at the break but a 5 – 1 scoring run, at the start of the second half, gave them a three goal lead.

NSW hit back immediately, through goals by Laura Ridley and Olivia Mowat, to come within one goal of Queensland. Then with only three minutes left in play, Michelle Heenan scored again for Queensland, to give her team a two goal lead and seemingly securing the win.  NSW though refused to give in and came back, again through Laura Ridley, and a late goal by Roxy Forward securing the point for defending champions NSW.

NSW will now play ACT, tomorrow at 10:00 to stay in contention for a direct spot in the final.
