Get Involved

Handball ACT is always keen to hear from people interested into handball. There are many ways to get involved and if you would like to know more, contact us or come and see us at one of our events.

Become a Player

There are competitions for all ages and ability in the ACT.  Our premier club, Canberra HC, attracts experienced and elite players but there are also several social teams, catering beginners.

Coaching

If you are interested in coaching handball teams, we will provide you support and training.  There will many opportunities to coach handball in the ACT, ranging from school-children to representative teams.

Although playing experience can be an advantage, you don't need to have played the sport to get into coaching.

Refereeing

There is a big demand for handball referees in Australia. The Australian Handball Federation, and its affiliates, run training courses and provide support for people keen to learn.  The ACT social competitions are a great, pressure-free, place to start and learn all about refereeing in handball.

Experience from sports like futsal, basketball and netball translates well to handball.

Administration

Sport administrators are always welcome too, and if you think you can help improve handball's standing in Australia we’d love to hear from you.

Schools

In the last few months we have visited and supported around 15 schools in the ACT (primary and high school).  We are also looking to organise school competitions. Contact us for more information on getting your school involved.
