Harbourside and Sydney Uni through to the League final

Sydney Uni ended Canberra’s hopes of a third successive League final, with a 35:24 drubbing, at Olympic Park yesterday. Canberra put in a strong performance in the second half, to outscore Uni 17:16, but was never in with a chance, after a disastrous first half that saw them chasing 7:19 at the break.

Oliver Junker did most of the damage again for Uni, scoring nine goals but had good support from Folk Van Hollen (6 goals) and Filipe Narciso (5). For Canberra, Zlatan Ivankovic, Rob Lans and Taip Ramadani top-scored with six goals each.

The Canberra players now have five weeks to regroup before the start of the senior National Championships being held in Perth starting from 15 October.

Harboursdie snatches victory from Hills

In the other semi-final, Harbourside snatched victory from Hills, in the last minute of the game, to secure their place into the 2009 NSW league final. Hills led for 58 minutes of the game but could not do enough to stop a late charge by Harbourside’s attack.

Harbourside will meet Sydney Uni, on 12 September, at Olympic park for the League title.
