The Australian women's team took out the 2009 Pacific cup last night, defeating New Zealand 29:15 in the final match of the tournament, at the Sleeman Centre in Brisbane.

Australia's Tori Brunsberg, who plays in Sweden, was the competitions top scorer.

Coach Katsu Kinoshita has now six months to get the team ready for the 2009 Handball Word Championships, being held in China from 5 December.
