Losing streak continues

The Canberra club is now on a 6 game losing streak after going down, first to Hills Heat (26:28), then Blaze (34:39), in a double-header, yesterday at the Woden Centre.

In the first game, Hills Heat pounced early, with a three-nil lead, and made the home team-chase for the rest of the half. Despite throwing everything at the Hills defence, Canberra struggled to score goals and at one stage, found themselves six goals down (10:16) but managed a slight recovery to narrow the margin at the break to 15:18.

A four-goal streak, early in the second-half, by right-wing Dragan Radicoski, put Canberra within one goal of Hills, setting-off a tough struggle for control of the game.

Canberra remained within reach of Hills for most of the second half, but then with eight minutes left, Daniel Doring and Dragan Radicoski scored three uncontested goals to put Canberra in the lead for the first time. The lead, though was short-lived as Hills hit back with three straight goals of their own, near the end of the game, to secure their second win against Canberra this season.

Curtis Eitzen put in a strong performance in his first game for the club and together with keeper Jamie Richardson, will have a tough job ahead of them, in helping Canberra regain a winning form.

Canberra Blazed

The Canberra players followed up with the second game, shortly after against the 2nd division Blaze team.

Still missing several players, the team had to stick to the same line-up from the previous game. The tired Canberra players, no match for the fast and fit Blaze boys who lead from the start.

On a good note for Canberra, 16 year-old goalkeeper, Brody O’Brien made his first league appearance, with five minutes left in the game. The talented youngster will represent ACT at the Australian under-16 National Championships in Coffs Harbour, later this month.
