ACT boys impressive in their first Championship

ACT and NSW teams

The ACT boys have put in another strong performance in the final game of the series but fell short of a victory against NSW, going down 21:14, this morning in Coffs Harbour. ACT was in the game for most of the first half, going goal-for-goal with NSW after Dilpreet Singh opened the scoring for the game. ACT then, as it had in previous games, suffered a lapse in concentration letting in 5 consecutive goals just before the break, to end the half at 7:11. The second half was a different story as ACT pressed the NSW attack with an aggressive 5-1 defence, which paid off immediately with the team coming within one goal of NSW, 10:11. They had trouble sustain the pressure though, as NSW hit back again, to take control of the game and win with a 7 goal margin. For ACT, Kerry Olesen and Brent Irvine stood out, and from the right wing Dilpreet Singh impressed as well with a consistent performance and two goals. NSW defeated ACT 21:14 (11:7)– for ACT Brody O’Brien (GK), Luke Behrendorff (3 goals), Shea Sedgman, Brent Irvine (3), Harjodh Singh (2), Jordan Chapman, Jackson Wright, Jacob Patton, Dilpreet Singh (2) and Kerry Olesen (4).
