Championship snatched in the last seconds
The ACT girls team had their hopes of a Championship victory dashed in the last seconds of the game, after having lead for the entire match. ACT had their best start to a game yet, flying to an 8:4 lead midway into the first half, after Mariel Soulard and Alice Keighley scored three goals each. Alice also had the toughest job in the game, marking up NSW dangerous shooter Laura Ridley and keeping her to only three goals in the game. NSW worked their way slowly back into the game, after the break, and with only two minutes left in play, equalised for the first time. A save from NSW keeper Elle Redondo in the last 30 seconds set the way for a NSW win; the opportunity taken by Sally Cash who coolly converted to give her team the Championship title. National Championships Final: NSW defeated ACT 12:11 (4:8 at the break) - for ACT Ellen Kromar (GK), Alice Keighley (4 goals), Mariel Soulard (4), Esther Soulard (1), Holly Tupper (2), Alexandra Hollard, Gemma Coleman and Rebecca Hingley.

Well done girls....that was a fantastic result even though it didn't go your way.
I feel that the NSW supremacy of handball in Australia will be ending sooner rather than later!
