ACT u18 teams miss-out on the finals

ACT's Alice Keighley attempts a long range shot against NSW B

ACT’s under 18 girls missed out on tomorrow’s championship final following losses to NSW A and NSW B teams, but the girls showed much improved performances in today’s games.

In the first game, against NSW B, the ACT girls stayed in close contention for most of the game but were eventually defeated 13:8.

Their best performance though, came in their last game against the NSW A team. ACT went goal for goal with the more experienced team from NSW, for much of the first half, going to the break 9:12 down. Exhaustion set in after the break, as NSW raced off to a ten goal lead soon afterwards, ACT eventually defeated 25:12.

Boys miss-out by one goal

The under 18 boys from ACT were set to qualify for tomorrow’s final but squandered a four-goal lead against the NSW B team, in their last game, to draw 10:10. Following yesterday's wins against NSW B and Queensland, they only needed to win one game today to make it through to the final, and their best chance came against NSW B. ACT had been winning by 4 goals but could not hold on to the lead allowing NSW to snatch a late equaliser, eliminating NSW B.

The draw meant that Queensland advanced to the final.
