ACT’s U21 men into the Championship final

ACT centre-back Harjodh Singh breaks through the Queensland defence

The under 21 ACT team survived  a late push by Queensland to qualify for tomorrow’s National Championship final, holding on to win by one goal, 25:24, today in Sydney.

ACT had raced off to a four goal lead and, with six minutes left in play, seemed headed for a comfortable win but Queensland staged a late comeback, causing some nervous moments on the ACT bench.

The tiring ACT attack, leading with one-goal, had a chance to play-out the game in attack, with less than twenty seconds on the clock but lost the ball giving Queensland a chance to equalise. Fortunately for them, they managed to hold on to their fragile lead securing a spot in tomorrow's final where they will meet current champions New South Wales.

New South Wales had already defeated ACT, earlier today, 44:15 in a one-sided encounter to qualify for the final.

ACT will play NSW at midday tomorrow.
